Customised ‘Language Plus’ holiday courses – individually developed for you. Our specially created courses combine language classes and seminars with varied Scottish-themed activities to suit your needs and interests.

You choose:
• Length and dates of course e.g. week-end, 5-day, 7-day
• General content of course e.g. language for travel and leisure, language for work & business, exam preparation
• Type of activities e.g. cultural visits, sport & leisure, lectures & talks, trips & excursions, traditional food & customs
• Accommodation style – Bed & Breakfast, Guest House, Hotel – in town, village or country

Scottish Cultural Seminars – conducted in language of your preference – choice of themes:
e.g. life in Scotland today; history and tradition; literature, folklore and legend; music, song & dance; famous Scots; natural beauties – landscape & wildlife, flora & fauna; industry – agriculture & forestry, whisky, woollens, fisheries

‘Language Plus’ activities:
• Visits to sites of cultural, historical and natural interest:
e.g. a city tour of Edinburgh, the castles,villages & coastline of East Lothian, seek the Holy Grail in Rosslyn Chapel, the Border Abbeys, a trip into the Highlands, visits to museums & galleries, a whisky distillery, a glass factory, a farm or forest.
• Leisure pursuits:
e.g. golf, a boat trip, hill walking, watersports, a ceilidh dance, theatre, the Musselburgh Races, Edinburgh International Festival

SAMPLE SCHEDULE

Day 1

 

 

[possibly evening before]

Pick-up from Edinburgh airport and welcome.  Transfer to accommodation.

Transfer to training centre.
Introductory language session – assessment & discussion of needs and interests.

Morning coffee & snack lunch provided in centre.

p.m.

Introduction to Scottish life & culture, followed by city tour of Edinburgh, accompanied by language expert.
Transfer to accommodation.

Evening free.

Day 2

Language session – focus on individual needs [e.g. language for work & business, for travel, for social purposes] according to your level

 

p.m.

Language session or optional activity – e.g. tour of the castles, villages & coastline of East Lothian, accompanied by language expert.

Pub lunch or picnic (weather permitting)

Day 3

Language session built round discussion of Scottish traditions and products - visit to whisky distillery or glass factory

Lunch on visit

p.m.

Accompanied walk – along coast, in forest, or in Edinburgh’s Botanic Gardens.

 

Day 4

Whole Day Excursion or Activity

 

Either

A trip into the Highlands, with a farm visit and introduction to the Gaelic language and Highland culture

 

or

A morning’s golf coaching [with language introduction], followed by a round on one of East Lothian’s famous golf courses

Lunch in the Clubhouse

Day 5

Language session – based on your interests & skills level

 

p.m.

Visit to museum or gallery, followed by theatre or concert outing

Accompanied dinner in restaurant before outing
