IMMERSION COURSES in Scotland 2008Annual Immersion Courses for Primary School Teachers
In 2007 teachers from all over Europe attended our courses to develop their discursive skills, update their methodology and exchange ideas for good practice in the classroom. The courses, which take place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, aim to boost the teachers’ confidence in teaching a modern language at Primary level. All participants receive support from COMENIUS Lifelong Learning Programme available through their own Socrates National Agency. The grant fully covers the course fee, subsistence and accommodation, as well as travel expenses for up to 390 Euros. Dates for 2008
If fewer than 8 participants per course, the course will be cancelled and we will transfer you to an alternative course.
About the coursesThe venue is the University of Edinburgh, with individual accommodation provided. Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is a UNESCO World Heritage City. Please note that these courses are not suitable for beginners. However, different levels will be catered for as the class may be divided into small groups. The training sessions are delivered in English. Participants will be encouraged to speak English as much as possible in social situations and on the cultural excursions. Aims for primary school teachers’ course• To improve methodological expertise in the teaching of English to young learners PreparationThe courses are not suitable for beginners, so a prior knowledge of English is essential. These can be prepared in advance and brought to the course. Follow-upTeachers will receive a certificate at the end of the week. An optional two-day post-immersion course may be organised 6 months after the course. Teachers will also have the opportunity to join a Europe/UK-wide network of all participants. FeeThe total cost of the course, including accommodation and subsistence is 1110 Euros, 555 Euros for the tuition fee and 555 Euros for the subsistence fee, payable to LFEE after receipt of the Comenius grant.
