ABOUT USOur TeamThe members of the Confluence team hold graduate and postgraduate qualifications in teaching, language, literature and business management. They are highly qualified specialists, with particular experience in adult education. Whilst we specialise in English, Gaelic and German, we also offer services from native speakers of all the other major European languages, and also Mandarin Chinese. Our team is led by Dr Alison Hiley, whose work as a language teacher and social historian has given her extensive experience at a university level, in business and in Scotland's flourishing tourist industry. Our Premises at Eskmills Musselburgh is situated at the mouth of the River Esk, whose mussel beds gave the town its name. Eskmills lies on the river, with a pleasant riverside walk from the car park in front of the building. Musselburgh High Street and the picturesque Fisherrow Harbour are only minutes away. Musselburgh, the "honest toun", has a long history dating back to the Romans and Bronze Age. It has long been associated with the fishing industry (fishing nets were manufactured at Eskmills) but has also been a centre of golf for over 500 years the original home of the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, where Kings and Queens of Scotland played in the 16th Century, now doubles as a public golf course and the Musselburgh Racecourse.
